Meet Janet Williams, Founder
About Janet Williams
Janet Williams is the Founder of Progressive Discoveries, a consulting firm that helps organizations build the workplace culture leaders want and employees love, with no shame and no blame.
With more than twenty-five years of experience in leadership development and organizational effectiveness, Janet partners with organizations across industries to strengthen leadership clarity, decision-making, and workplace culture. Her work focuses on the intersection of leadership behavior, organizational structure, and culture, helping leaders align their leadership with the environments they create and the results they expect.
Janet’s approach is grounded in the belief that clarity and culture are inseparable. When leaders lack shared clarity around expectations, priorities, and decision-making, teams absorb the strain. When culture is misaligned, even strong strategies struggle to hold. Her work helps leaders see these dynamics clearly and make practical, sustained shifts that improve both performance and experience over time.
Her work is supported by a set of proprietary tools and methods, including the Leadership Mode Snapshotâ„¢ and the Psychological Safety Pulse Checkâ„¢, which provide leaders with clear insight into how leadership habits and team conditions interact to shape outcomes. She is also the creator of The Chatter, an industry intelligence brief that surfaces real-world patterns across leadership, operations, and workplace culture, translating what professionals are experiencing into actionable insight for leaders. While rooted in the beauty, wellness, and barbering industry, this approach to signal tracking and interpretation extends across sectors where leaders must navigate complexity, change, and human dynamics at scale.
Before founding Progressive Discoveries, Janet held senior leadership roles in both industry and enterprise environments, including Director of the Aveda Institute, Washington, D.C., and Senior Director of Operations Education for Dessange North America. These experiences continue to inform her belief that culture is not something organizations declare. It is something leaders design, reinforce, and live every day.
Janet is a Certified Core Strengths Facilitator, a Certified Cultural Intelligence and Unconscious Bias Facilitator, a Master MBTI Facilitator, and a Master Situational Leadership Facilitator. She serves as Co-Chair of the Beauty Changes Lives Cultural Intelligence Committee, where she helps advance leadership and cultural intelligence across the industry.
Her clients span nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including public health, education, and service-based industries. Across all, she is known for bringing clarity to complex leadership challenges and helping leaders build environments where people and performance can thrive together.
